Florence Ambrose is a character created by Mark Stanley, for his comic strip Freefall. It's a strip about a shady captain, and his engineer, a genetically constructed wolf (Florence). He is normally a stickler for scientific accuracy, and I've learned a few things from his descriptions. One place his scientific accuracy had to bend to artistic simplicity though was her hair. Normally when someone with long hair goes into space, their hair will spread out in all directions (as seen in pictures from the shuttle missions). I decided that Florence needed a more technically accurate depiction of what her hair would look like in microgravity.
